چکیده

Whenever a continuous-tone image has to be displayed on a bi-level medium, some kind of halftoning has to be carried out. Nowadays processing of the continuous-tone image is often done by a computer, i.e. the sampled and quantized continuous-tone image is transformed into a binary image by a halftoning algorithm. In the following we will assume the continuous-tone image to be scaled between 0 and 1. In addition, we will restrict the discussion to algorithms for output devices where the addressability of the pulse location is approximately equal to the pulse extension. In this case the binary picture can be described by a pattern of independent black and white pixels. Depending on the properties and needs of the output device, pulse-width modulation (PWM) or pulse-density modulation (PDM) is used. A special kind of PDM is generated by the error diffusion algorithm (ED) [1]. Because of its easy implementation and its relatively high speed, this algorithm is in widespread use.

Color Halftoning with Stochastic Dithering and Adaptive Clustering

We introduce an algorithm for color halftoning using stochastic dithering. Color Halftoning with Stochastic Screening and Adaptive Clustering

We introduce an algorithm for color halftoning using stochastic screening. This algorithm has three distinguished features: it uses clustering, it performs error diffusion and it employes an adaptive criteria to change the cluster size according to the variation of the image color values. Therefore, the method incorporates features from the traditional amplitude modulated (AM) digital halftonin...

Efficient document rendering with enhanced run length encoding

Document imaging and transmission systems (typically MFPs) require both effective and efficient image rendering methods that support standard data formats for a variety of document types, and allow for real time implementation. Since most conventional raster formats (e. g. TIFF, PDF, JPEG) are designed for use with either black and white text, or continuous-tone images, more specialized renderi...

Equidistribution grids for two-parameter convection–diffusion boundary-value problems

In this article, we propose an adaptive grid based on mesh equidistribution principle for two-parameter convection-diffusion boundary value problems with continuous and discontinuous data. A numerical algorithm based on an upwind finite difference operator and an appropriate adaptive grid is constructed. Truncation errors are derived for both continuous and discontinuous problems. Parameter uni...

Finite Element Simulation and ANFIS Prediction of Dimensional Error Effect on distribution of BPP/GDL Contact Pressure in PEM Fuel Cell

Distribution of contact pressure between the bipolar plate and gas diffusion layer considerably affect the performance of proton exchange membrane fuel cell. In this regard, an adaptive neuro-fuzzy inference system (ANFIS) is developed to predict the contact pressure distribution on the gas diffusion layer due to dimensional errors of the bipolar plate ribs in a proton exchange membrane fuel ce...

Impacts of the Negative-exponential and the K-distribution modeled FSO turbulent links on the theoretical and simulated performance of the distributed diffusion networks

Merging the adaptive networks with the free space optical (FSO) communication technology is a very interesting field of research because by adding the benefits of this technology, the adaptive networks become more efficient, cheap and secure. This is due to the fact that FSO communication uses unregistered visible light bandwidth instead of the overused radio spectrum. However, in spite of all ...
